AI-generated content is quietly taking over playlists and feeds, reshaping the future of creativity while sidelining the artists and creators who built these platforms.
There are benefits of AI generated contents, but it based on the data we feed in. That said, many AI generated contents would share similar pattern, and this is where human can never be replaced.
When company labels it and enhance their UIUX, it would allow users to set the right expectation
"Meta’s pivot: from connecting people to competing with them" 👏👏👏 I see this as one of the darkest uses for AI (from one of the darkest companies using AI). Crazy days ahead.
Great article! Fun fact, I was one of the guys behind AI Artist Ravyn Lyte, who is on Spotify. I’m all for it as long as it’s easy for people to filter.

It does raise a question around what striking the right balance will look like for companies that push AI into their business models, e.g. considering the impact and trade-offs between optimising for profit/cutting operational costs, driving engagement vs inadvertently creating potential trust & authenticity issues.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Striking the right balance will likely require companies to prioritize ethical AI practices, ensuring transparency and accountability while aligning technological advancements with both business goals and the expectations of their stakeholders.
Really love how you're breaking this down! The way the lines are blurring between what's real and what's AI-generated is definitely something we all need to think about more, especially when it comes to what we put our trust in. As people get more aware of "AI creations, artists, avatars, agents" living among us, it's going to be wild ride to see how it changes the way we design for trust. Also, digging how you're looking at the business side of these changes too—super interesting take!
Completely agree and I tend to believe that it’s the intention behind that differentiates an ethical from unethical usage, hence the importance of understanding why they are doing and not just the what.
Excited / terrified / curious about what comes next indeed !
Yeah that emphasizes your point on boosting engagement and retention which eventually driving their advertising revenue. But for sure it’s not coming from a thoughtful idea 😄
Yes I think platforms might split as well between the ones that are pro AI and the ones that are against. Medium just took a strong stance against AI as of today
I think as we move forward, it’s going to get harder to tell what’s totally human versus AI. Movies, music, it’s all going to blend together.
It’s fascinating how this will change the playing field. For example, those who might not be great writers but can leverage AI will have an edge.
Same goes for those who can’t necessarily sing. They can use AI to create music they wouldn’t have been able to do on their own.
Really great insights! I’ve learned a lot

Love that one!

I hadn't even thought about AI-generated content on Spotify. Now, I find it even stranger that it is not flagged. Let's see where this leads.
Yes it's pretty crazy that they don't highlight it anywhere !

Yes I think that it’s rather the lack of transparency that’s an issue. I would like to know and be able to filter it if I want to
I also have so many questions on how this artist was created, your role etc
Well written!

Thanks for those interesting insights. I actually wasn't aware of this fact and I am a bit ashamed by it since I use Spotify very often.
Informative and thought-provoking article!

Love this piece, great breakdown!
I can understand where Spotify is going with their AI music in terms of business even though it's not ethical, but Meta's AI profile?? Cmon...!!
Yeah it's such a weird one. I can't help but wonder who approves these features and what the compliance/ PR process looks like

Even in terms of alignemnt with the vision, it's really clashing
